MERCEDES 190E 2.5 16v EVO 1 DTM 1990 PRE-SEASON TEST CAR

The real Evo.

A nice clean bare finish instead of nicotine laced package, for a change

190 E 2.5-16 Evolution 1 was officially launched in Geneva Motorshow in March 1989.

A total of 502 EVO1 were produced to qualify for DTM.

The first one made to Mainz-Finthen airport circuit on 14 May 1989 and went literally flying.
In the hands of Roland Asch, EVO1 won the race on its debut.

In 1990, Mercedes enters 8 cars under 3 teams: AMG, Snobeck and MS-racing.
To fend off further challenges from Audi V8 4WD and 2.5L M3, Evo 2 was later introduced in the middle of 1990 season to replace this Evo.

One of the good references I have.
Complete with boxed rearwing and telemetry cables running into the car.

Was dumbfounded to learn that Minichamps did not provide rollcages.
Well, I find ways to create them.
